Holiday Party Style Tips w/ Bluefly.com Stylist

Tanesha Smith,  BlueFly.com stylist,  has answered some styling tips for busy, working women to help them this holiday season and I thought they are VERY useful. So, read and remember the following, because I totally agree with them all!

1. What should I have in my closet for holiday parties this season with my friends? For work? With family?

A black sheath dress can be very versatile. By day, you can wear a blazer or cardigan (or be a fashion insider and wear both; see below), and at night, just throw on some sparkly heels. Depending on your office dress code, a sequin mini skirt can operate in the same way.

2. How can I look fashionable when it’s freezing outside?

Nothing says fashion insider more than some deftly layered pieces. Most people put on a top and a bottom and leave it at that. I say release your inner Olsen Twin and layer it up. Stick to thin basics underneath with a statement piece on top to avoid looking too bulky. Starbucks cup sold separately.

3. What are the top five winter items I should purchase this year?

  1. Shearling boots
  2. Cashmere sweater
  3. Something furry… faux or real
  4. An unexpected knit ie: a skirt or chic long johns (yes!)
  5. A shawl collar coat

4. I’m looking for a pair of warm boots that are still fashionable! What do you suggest?

There are tons of shearling and fur lined options at every price point from Burberry and YSL to Stuart Weitzman and Jeffrey Campbell.

5. What are your gift-giving suggestions for this holiday season?

Anything cashmere! Mostly, it comes down to your relationship with the recipient and doing a little investigating. If they’re outdoors a lot, perhaps some leather gloves or a furry hat. If they are in a more conservative office, a cashmere scarf or wrap can help them navigate the ever changing cubicle temp dial.

Load Up…Profectiv Healthy Ends

Whenever I run across this pink little jar, I always try and stock up on as many I can. Unfortunately, I can only seem to find this at the beauty supply store next to the Kroger that I rarely shop despite it being the closest one to my home.

I’ve looked for this at too many beauty supply and drugstores throughout Memphis, but to no avail.

The reason I love this heavy pink creamy concoction is because all I have to do when my ends are looking dry and downright pitiful is slather some on my ends and put my hair in a bun before heading to bed. The next morning, I wake up to smooth and soft ends. It’s the only creamy crack I love.

FYI, I don’t know why it still says “New” considering the first time I fell in love with it was well over 5 years ago! *Kanye shrug* Also, this was the star of one of the  very first posts I ever did. Google it when you’re bored.
