Recent Empties…October 2014

recent_empties_oct2014

As I’ve recently said, I’m starting to get out of my “lazy” phase and starting to doll up more. So, I’ve been using up products that have been lurking in the shadows of the cabinet in my bathroom. So, here are some of the items I recently emptied and ran out.

  • Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfector – I’m a huge fan of Maybelline’s Instage Age Rewind line, especially the under eye concealer and powders. However, this one was just “alright”. This product has been discontinued, but there are still some online retailers with a few left in stock, if you are interested. It was just too creamy for my needs and the highlighter was cool.
  • Lash Potion by Grow Luscious Volume + Length Mascara – I really loved this mascara. It lengthened and made my lashes a little more voluminous. I will buy this one again.
  • L’Oreal Ever Sleek Humidity Defying Leave-In Creme – I can’t tell how long I’ve had this, but I was sent this a couple of years ago and it’s pretty decent. I used it while air-drying my hair before flat-ironing it and it helped combat frizz, even in the humid, southern heat of the summer. I would buy this again.
  • B&BW Forever Midnight Body Cream – I found this half-full bottle in a purse I was using last winter and fell in love with this rich vanilla and floral scent. A nice scent for fall and winter.
  • Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream – I’ve been wearing my hair straight for the past few months, but my hair has been a extremely dry and kind of thin after the heat from tools and the sun, not to mention the constant efforts to lighten my hair.  So, I’m donning my natural curly hair and going heat-free for at least a month.  I’ve been dusting off pieces from my arsenal of curly hair products and this cream was the first victim to run out. I already bought another jar, because my curls love it and the smell of coconuts is lovely in breezy fall day.

Skincare Products To Try Now

skincare_to_try_now

Every so often, I get the urge to indulge and play guinea pig to some new beauty products. As you might remember, a few months ago, I was all about buying and trying different foundations. Before that, I was obsessed with finding the mythical “perfect primer”. Now, ladies (and some gents), I’ve become fixated on skincare products.

This latest fixation may or may not be in part to me wanting to obtain perfect skin for those lazy days when I just can’t get the energy to slap on a few layers of makeup and seize the day. Still, I’m itching to try some new skincare for those self-imposed, but completely deserved lazy days.

So, here are some beauty/skincare products that I’m yearning to try…NOW!

  • Stila One Step Correct – A 3-in-1 serum with that moisturizes, tones, and primes to achieve to look of perfect skin…with or without makeup.
  • Bliss Triple Oxygen Facial In A Box – Facials are everything and my current bi-weekly luxury. However, they can get a little pricey. So, giving my self a bliss facial…for only $12 a pop is more than reasonable.
  • Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask – Pumpkin Enzymes are great for exfoliating and treating dull and aging skin.
  • Boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponge – The change in weather is causing my combo skin to be more on the dry side and look dull. So, I’m very intrigued by this brush that not only cleanses the skin, but also exfoliates and hydrates the skin.
  • Algenist Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Melting Cleanser – I love a good melting cleanser. The feel of the makeup dissolving and gently sliding off your face is one of the most amazing, self-indulgent things you can do in the bathroom.

HALLOWEEN: Bloody Nails Artwork

Halloween_bloody_nails_main

With Halloween right around the corner, most people are just now deciding what costume to wear for costume parties and/or trick-or-treating with the kiddos. However, there are some of us who don’t have a reason to dress up, but would still like to participate in some way, small or large, in Halloween.

One of the ways I like participate in Halloween is with my nails. Usually, I use a bright orange and/or black, but that has become very boring over the years. Enter, nail art! One nail art design that has peaked my interest in the past couple of years is ‘bloody nails’. I’ve always wanted to try it, but never got around to trying it out. However, I’m ready this year.

Here are some polishes that will help you attain this look and design.

Beauty Wants: Fall 2014

Fall_beauty_wants_2014

Today is the first official day of Fall and I feel like I’ve been waiting for this day for so long. Plus, it actually feels like fall today with the cool weather and dewy grass that I was greeted with this morning while taking my dogs out.

Every season, when the weather changes, your beauty routine and products tend to change as well. Products with more coverage and heavier consistency replace the light and minimal summer hot products.

Here are few items that I’m itching to try this season that includes serums, concealers, and curl controller.
