Coin Purses

One of my first introductions to accessories, bags in particular, were coin purses. I believe my first one was the quintessential 80s kiddie coin purse made of vinyl with colorful picture of Rainbow Brite and here sidekick/horse Starbrite on the front. Despite the super kid vibes of this plastic coin purse, I felt like a full fledged grown-up when I received it. I also believed that I could buy anything I want with it and all the pennies and nickels I would cram in there, of course. Oh, to feel that invincible and naive.

However, the older I got, the more I felt compelled to own larger and longer wallets that could not only hold my spare change, but dollars, credit cards, checkbook (when they were still useful), and receipts. Pretty much my entire life in paper form, because I am one of those people that carries a copy of my birth certificate and social security card in my wallet. Hmm…I think I need to stop doing that.

Anyway, about a year ago, I realized that my days of thick, borderline clutch size wallets were no longer a need or convenient. Other than the fact that it took up major room in purse, it stayed pretty empty. I rarely carry cash (I know. That’s not good, but I’m working on it.) nor my checkbook considering I haven’t written a check in years. Seriously, who still regularly writes checks?

I decided to put my chunky, chic MCM wallet on eBay (scored $125 for it) and buy me a coin purse. Awesome decision for many reasons and I’m going to share them with you.

For me, when I began looking for a coin purse, I needed more than a zippered pouch. Since I was pretty much trying to streamline not just my wallet, but my life, I wanted something that served more than just a place to toss coins. I wanted a coin purse that was roomy enough to hold my ID, debit card/cash, access key card for my office building, and my actual keys. So, a keychain wallet was what I needed and I found it in Rebecca Minkoff’s Molly Metro Wallet. It almost felt like it was made for me, because it has a zipper compartment for loose change, a card holder, and clear slot in the back and snap closure to prevent anything from falling out. Hands down, one of my best purchases of 2015. FYI – I chose blue, because black felt too basic for me at the time. Now….I want the black one!

If you are into finding new ways and things to streamline to make your life even the slightest more convenient, you might appreciate the ease of a keychain coin purse. I found some really cute ones that are a mix of cute and classic.

Cute Sleep Masks

I love cute sleep masks. One of my favorite movies ever, Breakfast as Tiffany, was one of the first times I can recall seeing a cute sleep mask. I loved everything about Holly Golightly, including her simple and classic style with cute and quirky accents here and there. One of these said “quirky accents” was her sleep mask. The satin turquoise eye mask and the look of closed eye lids with gold trim have become as iconic as the movie.

This past Christmas, I was gifted a soft and soothing eye mask and it has instantly become one of my favorites gifts ever! I never really thought that a sleep mask would help me sleep as much as it does, but it does.

Sleep masks are the cheapest and one of the most effective ways to help you sleep better, because they block out light. When the brain senses complete darkness, it produces the sleeping chemical melatonin . Isn’t science interesting.

Sleep mask are also great for relaxing and traveling to help you clear your mind and zone out.

If you have a hard time falling asleep and/or getting enough sleep, might I suggest you look into buying a sleep mask. Here are some cute and stylish options.

Sparkly Accessories

Since we are pretty much in the holiday season, that means there is about to be increase in the number of moments and events in our lives where a little more sparkle doesn’t hurt.

From glitzy gatherings to holiday parties, you need a little something “extra” to sparkle. Actually, this is the best time to get your sparkle on and why not do it with a few sparkly accessories?

If you are like me, then a full on ensemble of head to toe glitter and sequins is just too much. So, instead opt for small flashes in the for accessories such as a clutch, jewelry of even some sequin embellished pumps. Sequin pumps are necessary for every closet, FYI.

I was over on ShopBop and spotted more than a few accessories that are not only sparkly, but so beautiful.  Also, it’s perfect timing, because ShopBop just started their annual Big Holiday sale this morning and can save up to 25%. So, yeah, you might want to take advantage of that sale and pick up a few sparkly accessories of your own.

SPRING PRINT: Classic Palm Print

Golden Girls!

That’s where I first remember seeing the classic palm print! Bonus point for anyone who can point out why. (Hint: Its the design of one of the ladies bedroom)

Anyway, although this iconic print is a bold and a little overbearing, it’s making a comeback in various styles this spring, including on clothes, accessories, and home decor.

Despite me not being a fan of prints, let alone big, bold prints, I must admit that I’m looking for a couple of ways to subtly incorporate this iconic print into my lifestyle and luckily I’ve found plenty of options to conquer this small tasks. I’m think a pillow or small printed picture of a palm leaf is my best option.

In the meantime…
