Denim Trench Coats

So…I’m sick. I’m talking that itchy throat, watery eyes, and stuffy nose sick. Oh, and you can add chills to that list. I might need some rest, but believe it or not, I still had enough energy this morning to carry myself to work. I will admit that I barely applied any makeup and look like I just threw something on, which I did. However, I made it and I’m proud of  myself.

I was so proud of myself that I started concocting a small list of supporting characters for my classic fall wardrobe. One item that I’ve been pondering for the past couple of days is a denim trench coat. It sounds a little too busy, but if you think about the classic silhouette of a trench and the right denim hue, it sounds like a great addition to any outwear wardrobe.

Denim trench coats are great when paired with muted and bright outfits. Plus, it’s a fun  option to have on a chill weekend of running errands or catching lunch with your girlfriends.

You already that I found some options…

SAVE vs. SPLURGE…Color Block Cape Coat

SAVEvsSPLURGE_colorblock_ca

The biggest trend in outwear this season are cape coats. They were all over the fall/winter 2015 runways and one of the cape coats that people instantly swooned for was the colour block cape from Burberry and it has become one of the ‘it” items for fall. Being an ‘it’ item usually comes with a hefty price tag. Like I mentioned, this is Burberry. Therefore, the price can make a major dent in your pocket.

So, if you love the look, but can’t really afford to drop over a grand for a trend, Topshop offers a really nice and very affordable cape coat that’s comparable to Burberry’s version. I love them both!

Well, when it comes to fall, your wardrobe can’t be labeled “fall-friendly” unless it has a trench coat hanging around. There are so many different styles, silhouettes, colors, and more for trench coats. However, one to have you classic belted and button-up style in a classic tan and/or black and MICHAEL Michael Kors makes the perfect trench coat one for many shapes and sizes.

A Satin Bomber Jacket? Of course, I need one!

SS_satin_bombers

I haven’t wanted a satin bomber jacket since I wanted a Chicago Bulls Starter (I still can’t believe Starter is now sold in WalMart) jacket back in the late 80s when in elementary and everybody wanted one.

Since then, I can’t really recall a “I want a satin jacket” moment until I saw these while browsing the jackets at SurfStitch.com. Now that I think of it, these are pretty fab pieces for fall. A satin jacket gives you cool feeling, but with enough warmth, depending on the lining.

The Billabong one (left) looks very lightweight and the one by All About Eve (right) looks like it has little warmth to it. Actually, it looks like it has a nice amount of warmth. Either way, you can’t go wrong with either, because they have a nice and classic shape and can go with plenty of things.
