The History of the hand shaken Daiquiri
Daiquiris. I love just even saying the word, because it makes me think about the drink and wanting to get one after work to unwind and celebrate surviving another work day. However, I’ve never really sat back and thought about the history of the daiquiri. So, after a quick little search I was quick to find out that daiquiris were invented in a bar in the 1900s in a bar in Santiago, Cuba by a group of American mining engineers. Interesting! They started to become more popular in the 1940s during wartime and the rest is history!
Although there are very different recipes for daiquiris, sometimes the best way is to keep it simple like the Bacardi recipe below.
- Step 1: Moisten the rim of a tall glass then dip in sugar to rim the edges
- Step 2: Pour over ice
- Step 3: Garnish with a lime wedge
- Step 4: Enjoy!
