Double Cleansing Products and Duos

Isn’t it crazy how you can go years, maybe even decades, doing something one way only to find out you were doing it all wrong or not completely?

Well, that’s how I felt awhile back when I realized that I spent countless years complaining about my acne prone skin and having trouble finding a cleansing product and routine that actually worked when in all I was short-handing the process by only using one product to cleanse my face. All this time, I should have been using two face washing products instead the bare basics of one.

Now, I’m a firm believer in the double-cleansing movement.

What is “Double Cleansing”?

Simply put, it’s using 2 different facial cleansing products to clean your face. One of the popular and usual ways that some people do this is by using a make-up remover wipe to remove the first layer of make-up and then “washing” their face  with a regular “sudsy” face wash. That might be just enough for some, but the majority of us need to give our face more attention that when cleaning it or it will bite back with clogged pores and dull complexions.

There are countless of cleansing combos you can use to thoroughly wash your face and I’m sharing some note-worthy combos based on skincare needs. Keep reading to see if you can spot a combo for you.

No Makeup/ Morning Routine

You might think that double cleansing your skin isn’t necessary if you didn’t make-up or the first thing in the morning, but you might want to think again. Even though your face doesn’t have layers of make-up, a lot of dirt and germs can get on your skin and in your pores throughout the day and while you sleep. So, a gentle 1-2 combo of a Simple Cleansing Micellular water followed by Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser and a rinse of water would give your skin a gentle clean. Both of these products are super gentle and great for any and all skin types.

Light/ Natural Makeup

The look of natural makeup can easily be pulled off with light foundation, a little mascara, and simple lipstick or gloss. Therefore, a combination of a make-up wipe remover and oil-free face wash might be the way the go to thoroughly remove this make-up and clean you skin. Using Nuetrogena Make-Up Remover Wipes to remove your make-up is a great first step and follow it up with a cleanser like Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Milk, which is gentle and milky face wash take easily dissolves any leftover make-up, dirty, and even sunscreen.

Heavy/ Night Out Makeup

For those make-up addicts who love nothing more than a heavy smoky eyes, perfectly contoured skin, and no-budge liquid lipsticks, then a few make-up wipe and a gentle cleanser might not be the most effective way to remove your make-up and cleanse your face. A cleansing oil and foaming face wash is more ideal. Dermalogica Precleanse is one of the magical products ever. It gently deep cleanses your skin and the oil breaks down to remove skin impurities, sunscreen, and even waterproof makeup. Love a good glitter eyeshadow, this cleansing oil will dissolve and melt it off your face. After using your cleansing oil, follow it up with a foaming face wash such as Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash. It’s great for dry and oily skin and doesn’t leave any residue.

Bi-Weekly Deep Cleanse

All proper skin care routines call for weekly deep cleansing that includes exfoliating it. There are countless of skin brushes that are great for deep cleaning your skin, including LUNA silicon facial brushes. There are LUNA facial brushes for all skin types, including for sensitive and combination skin. Use your facial brush with a deep cleanser, such as Juice Beauty Stem Cellular 2 -in-1 Cleanser. Not only does this product deep cleanse, but it also helps tone and hydrate your skin.
