BRAND LOVE: Mario Badescu Skincare

best_mario_badescu_products

In case you might have missed the memo, here and oh, yeah, here, too, I’m a huge fan of Mario Badescu toners. The are gentle (the ones I’ve used, at least) and so effective.

However, it’s not just the toners from Mario Badescu that own a piece of my heart, but there are quite a few products that just…do it for me and my skin. So, check out this list of my favorite Mario Badescu skincare products that I love and swear by.

  • Special Cucumber Lotion – There are a couple of variations of this formula, but this is my fav. It’s perfect for oily/combo skin, but gentle and non-drying, which is the problem with most toners aimed for oily skin. I love this stuff so much, that I’m going to start buying it bulk.
  • Enzyme Cleansing Gel -This cleanser removes all the make-up and oil, which melts in my skin throughout a long work day. Although it leaves the skin squeaky clean it doesn’t strip my skin of moisture.
  • Buffering Lotion – Cystic acne are the devil and nobody can tell me different and this is the only product that I’ve found and used that gets rid of them. I literally can dab this on a “devil”; once in the morning and at night and it will be gone within a day. This stuff is the real deal and worth all my money, if needed.
  • Drying Mask – When I get an acne breakout, which I count as having more than 2-3 pimples on my face, I use this mask and pretty much dries up that “situation” withing a day or two and you just can’t beat that time table.
  • Peptide Renewal Cream – I will admit that I only introduced myself to this cream a couple of months ago. but the results have been so amazing it jumped over plenty of other loved products to jump in my personal top five. This cream has really helped firm and smooth my skin.

RECENT BEAUTY EMPTIES: April 2015

recent_empties_april_2015

Last month was a struggle to use up some products, especially makeup. The reason is due to my desire to wear less makeup when the weather begins to warm up. However, I was able to use up some products. I will admit that the reason that these products were used up is because they were products that I loved and used practically everyday. So, keep reading to see the list of items I recently used up that includes items you might’ve seen me write about on here or Instagram, plus a quick wrap-up/review of each products (if needed).

So, here are my recent beauty empties from April.

  • Maybelline Clear Great Lash Mascara – I’ve yet to find a brow gel that does what Maybelliene’s clear mascara does and I’ve kind of given up the hunt, because this one tames and hold my brows together all day. Added bonus, while using it to seal my brows, it picks up a little of my brow powder and gives it a brown tint for those days when only a quick swipe to my natural brows is needed. I love those days.
  • Make-Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation – I loved this foundation and it’s been added to my personal list of favorite foundations. It’s buildable, light, and creates a flawless finish. Plus, my oily/combo skin isn’t so noticeable oily. A definite win.
  • Almay Longwear and Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover – It’s hard to find a drugstore eye make-up remover this awesome. This remover from Almay gentle, but efficiently removes ever smudge of mascara (waterproof, too!) and eyeshadow on my sensitive eyes without irritating them.
  • Urban Decay All Night Setting Spray – I’ve never been one to root for setting sprays, but I feel like this one from Urban Decay is worth backing. I use it before and after applying my makeup and my makeup stayed all day with “rearranging” on my face throughout the day. I feel like I’ve been cheating myself by not buying and trying this years ago.
  • Mario Badescu Special Cleansing Lotion “C” – Mario Badescu toners are bae! I’ve yet to use one of his toners and not love it and the Special Cleansing Lotion one was no exception. This formula is for acne-prone and oily skin, which made it perfect for me. When used in the morning and not, Iit leaves your skin feeling clean and refresh.

How to Apply Skincare Products

how_to_apply_skincare

There are so many different types of skincare products that serve various purposes and despite what our significant others might say as they are accidentally knocking down one of our $100 skin product while reaching for the toothpaste in the morning, we need all of them.

Still, not everyone is aware that there is an ordering system on how to apply skincare products. Therefore, here is a quick cheat sheet on how to apply your skincare products after washing your face and toning your skin.

MORNING ROUTINE:

  1. Serum – I’ve become a huge fan of face serums. Serums work the best when they are applied to freshly washed and toned skin, because they can absorb into the skin.
  2. Targeted Treatment – Topical prescription, spot treatments, and eye creams are best applied before moisturizer. If you apply them after your moisturizer, they might not be as effective.
  3. Moisturizer  – You have to moisturize. It’s important. Therefore, don’t skip this step.
  4. All Over Treatment – The next thing to apply is an antioxidant treatment, all over acne treatment, and/or facial oil, because these products can be very harsh to your skin. Therefore, having already moisturizing your skin will act as a barrier for these products.
  5. SPF – You can’t skip this product. No matter the season, temperature, or weather, apply sunscreen. You can slather it on before your foundation or mix it with your foundation, just do it.

NIGHT ROUTINE:

The night time routine is not as lengthy as the daytime version, but just as important. Your skin rejuvenates overnight. So, you want to make sure you apply your skincare products. Here are the steps to take for applying your skincare products following thoroughly cleansing your face.

  1. Retinol, Prescription, or Serum
  2. Target Treatment
  3. Moisturizing Night Cream

I hope this reaches and helps those who needed to learn these steps. Trust me, your skin will thank you.

Face Serum Addict

I’m starting to believe that my skin is obsessed with products that contain vitamin C, especially face serums. I tried my first one a few months ago and my skin instantly thrived. Over time, my skin brighten, tighten, and appeared more supple, which is hard to obtain in the winter, but it did.

Unfortunately, I recently ran out and was in dire need to find another vitamin C face serum to try and entered Valentia’s EVEN GLOW SERUM – Antioxidant Treatment – Anti-Wrinkle-Natural & Organic – Repair & Renew. This serum is packed with plenty of ingredients that aids in even skin tone, moisturizes, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, and smooths the skin.

All it takes is a little drop and that’s enough to cover your face, neck and decollete, because it’s very potent and it absorbs into your skin very fast.

Although I’ve only been using this serum for a couple of weeks, I’m very pleased so far. If you are interested in trying this serum, you can purchase it via Amazon.

Best and Favorite Foaming Cleansers

fav_5_foam_cleansers

The other day, my face felt so oily and heavy, despite it being freshly washed and make-up free. At that moment, that’s when I knew that the cold weather was pretty much done and warm weather temperatures were approaching.  This moment is also known as the time when my combination/oily skin becomes more oily than combo.

As soon as the weather and climate changes, one of the first things that lets me know is my skin. It not only becomes oilier, but it feels very heavy and gross and that’s when I have to start transitioning my skincare routine and the first item I usually changing is my cleanser.

Although it’s very wonderful, my usual Cetaphil cleanser just doesn’t leave my oily skin feeling clean, because it doesn’t suds or foam up. In case you don’t know, when it comes to cleansers for oily skin, foam is your friend. There is something about the foaming action that deep cleans your skin and pores and not only does your skin look clean, but feels clean.

The one foaming cleanser I always keep in my skincare collection is Neutrogena’s Fresh Foaming Cleanser, because it’s gentle, fresh, and really deep cleans. However, I’ve used and fawn over others in my life. If you have oily, combo, and/or acne-prone skin, I suggest you find and keep a holy grail foam cleaner in your skincare collection. I’ve gathered some cult (and my personal) favorite foaming cleansers for you to ponder adding to your skincare regimen.
