IOTW: Elta MD Tinted Sunscreen

One of the best things you can do for your skin is to never forget your sunscreen. Over the past few years, I’ve become that person that never leaves the house without sunscreen. Matter of fact, I keep a tube in my car for my hands to reapply to my face, if needed. Personally, I feel like most sunscreens are the same, as long as they are 35+ or better. My go-to sunscreen has been one from Neutrogena and it has been holding me down for years. However, I recently ran out of my sunscreen and decide it was a good time to try a new sunscreen – a tinted sunscreen. The one that was at the top of my list was Elta MD Tinted Sunscreen.

ITEM OF THE WEEK: Elta MD Tinted Sunscreen | STAINED COUTURE

Most of the skin care addicts and professionals I follow on social media have mentioned and/or raved about this Elta MD sunscreen before. Therefore, I knew at some point that I was going to have to buy this. The opportunity presented itself when I went for a facial a couple of weeks ago. Luckily, I ran out of my Neutrogena sunscreen the next day and was able to start using this one ASAP. I’ve been using it every day since I got it and it was definitely worth the wait. Keep reading to see why I think this probably going to be my favorite tinted sunscreen for life.

First off, Elta MD offers also this sunscreen without the tint. However, my aesthetician did warned me that it did leave a white cast, which was all I needed to know. Personally, I can’t recall ever using a tinted sunscreen before. I have plenty failed attempts at tinted moisturizers, but not tinted sunscreen. However, this sunscreen is also very moisturizing thanks to hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid helps to retain water and moisture in your skin. So, applying this after your moisturizer will help your skin glow all day.

Some of the reviews I read about this sunscreen mentioned that it made their skin looked “shiny”. However, it didn’t bother me and my combination/oily skin type, which was a little surprising. Speaking of skin type, this sunscreen is great for most skin types. If you do have oilier skin, then you might want to combine this with one of your less dewy moisturizers and foundations.

Now let us move on to the “tinted” portion of this sunscreen. Now, I am a melanin woman with deep tanned skin, which deters me from trying or believing most “tinted” products. After I initially applied this sunscreen, I didn’t really notice the tint on my face, but I did notice it on my chest. Boy, was that tint obvious – I looked like I put makeup on my chest. So, that really shocked and impressed me, but also made me mindful to spread my makeup down further, too.

Finally, I love this sunscreen, because many skin care professional and aestheticians recommend this product. Actually, this is final product my aesthetician applies to the skin after a facial or any procedure, because it helps protect the skin and make your skin look amazing. I’ve only been using this sunscreen for a couple of weeks, but I’m sold.
