HOLIDAY COLLECTION 2013: Free People

Free_People_holiday_main_2013

In addition to party dresses, cozy apparel, and unique gifts, Free People is bringing mystical inspiration this holiday. The brand’s November catalog, launching this coming Monday, features five chapters corresponding to the elements: Earth, Air, Water, Fire, and Spirit. Modeled by Karlie Kloss, Martha Hunt, and Ajak Deng among others, each story has its own personality and feeling.

Both the Earth and Water sections of the catalog were shot in Iceland with Martha Hunt. Earth is cozy, focusing on holiday layering and a rich color palette, shot on mossy beaches. Water is elegant and frosted, shot on a glacier, in an icy palette of silvers and blues. The mood gets dreamy when Karlie Kloss floats in soft and romantic holiday dresses in the Air chapter, lensed by Joshua Allen. Fire is the heart-warming holiday chapter with a cozy cabin as the backdrop to the holiday gift assortment. Special pieces include everything from henna candles and hand-painted bell ornaments, to edible gifts including hot cocoa on a stick. For the book’s final chapter, Spirit, photographer Billy Kidd captures the vivacious spirit and uniquely beautiful personalities of various models in contrasting black and white shots.

The collection will be available starting November 4, 2013 at Free People stores and on FreePeople.com

LUST-HAVE LIST: November 2013

LHL_november2013

Halloween is pretty much the doormat to the holiday season. Now, we are entering into November for Thanksgiving and then Christmas will be right around the corner, because December tends to run up to you real quick with a sucker punch.

This month, I’m starting to gravitate more black fashion pieces rather than brown and you will be able to see it in this month’s LHL. Plus, now that the sweaty summer is over, I’m starting to take some extra time in the morning to do my makeup instead of just some undereye concealer, mascara, and powder. So, I’m starting to visit makeup counters more frequently and test drive new products. Also, I need some new make-up brushes, because mine are starting to shed. Ugh.

Not to mention, but I’ve been feeling a little nostalgia toward my junior high days of being obsessed with Memphis rap and bucket bag purses.

So, here are the things I’m lusting for this month!

  1. Eightball and MJG T-Shirt, $13.99, Blahblahtshirts.com
  2. Rachel Zoe Kye Drawstring Bag, $315.99, Piperlime.com
  3. Origins Smarty™ Plants CC SPF 20 Complexion Corrector, $35, Sephora
  4. Vince Sonia High Heel Booties, $475, ShopBop.com
  5. Make An Entrance Clutch, $59, Sephora

eBay Introduces New Way to Browse and Buy

The ability to browse, shop, and track purchases online is probably one of the best things ever invented and grew dramatically since its conception in the late 90s to now. However, the fact that now, we as consumers, can easily become sellers online with the tap of a few keys and upload of pictures from our phones is just as fascinating.

eBay was the first online place where you could shop and sell on one site. So, its only fitting that they are continuing their efforts to keep the core plan intact, but grow on it, too. Thanks to the abundance of online shopping and bloggers and online tastemakers, eBay introduces a set of new features that make browsing and buying on eBay more personalized and inspiring. eBay also announces the expansion of eBay Now, its local same-day delivery service, to 25 markets in 2014, and a new strategic partnership with Shutl, a global network of couriers.

Watch the videos above and below to find out more about the latest browsing and shopping endeavors by eBay, including the new collections and curators, such as Solange and Pharell Williams.

Eh…moving.

moving_sucks

I’ve been MIA, because I moved a couple of weekends ago and as you can tell by my Instagram photo above, I’m still not completely unpacked. One of the double edge swords about moving is that you find stuff you forgot you had (Yay!), but then you realize that more stuff that you didn’t calculate in your moving estimate (Boo!)

The deets. One of my sisters and I found this cute little 3 bedroom house to rent that we instantly fell in love with thanks to the character of an older home, hardwood floors, great natural light, big back yard for our dogs, and front deck that we can’t wait to enjoy when it warms up. This past weekend, we finally got the cable and internet hooked up, but a virus decided to move, too, right into my computer. So, yeah, its currently getting fixed and I’m hoping  I should get it back any day now.

Although we are pretty much settled in, we still have to shop for a few things here and there, the main one being me a new bed, because I gave my other one to her (long story) and now I need to go buy a new bed. Shopping for essentials is hard to do when you have a full-time job along with unpacking, However, this weekend, we plan to tackle all of these issues and my computer will hopefully be back and all will be good in my little Stained world once again. *Fingers crossed*
