You might recall that one of the items I was lusting after this month was a pair of Doc Martens in black patent leather. Well, I had some gift certificates begging to get used and decided to treat myself. Although I got them a couple of weeks ago, the multiple snow days wouldn’t allow me to wear them. However, now that the sun is back, I decided it was time to break in my shiny Doc Martens boots.
After wearing them for 12 hours straight, I decided that I would share my review and how I was able to break in my new boots. You know what to do; keep reading!
Shiny Doc Martens: Styling
When I first saw these boots, I got the nostalgic vibes of 90s grunge with a current twist. I have a printed floral dress that I always wanted to style with some Doc Martens. Unfortunately, I wasn’t in the mood to test out a “look” while breaking in new shoes. Too much internal questions would consume my day. So, I played it safe with my favorite pair of leggings, an oversized peplum top, and loose fitting black cardigan. A very ‘lax look with grunge undertones.
Shiny Doc Martens: Wearing
Yesterday was my first official day wearing them, but I tried to wear them last Friday. Unfortunately, the thick socks I wore made wearing the boots unbearable. So much so, 2 minutes into my drive to work, I turned around and replaced them with my comfy snow boots. So, I know that me and my high instep can only tolerate wearing these with thinner socks. If I knew that before buying them, I probably would’ve sized down instead of up. #LessonLearned
Once I got to work and started walking around in my laced-up new boots, I noticed that they made a noticeably loud squeaky sound when I walked. It was very annoying and realized with was the leather on the tongue rubbing against the leather of the upper. I quickly resolved this issue by wearing them untied and made me again regret not sizing down.
Shiny Doc Martens: Opinion
In the end, these boots add an instant coolness to any look and I looking forward to playing around with them some more. Not to mention, classic Doc Martens never go out of style.
