Happy Friday! Another Friday I’m so happy to see! Last Friday was rough because Aunt Flo had pulled into town and as soon as she left I caught a head cold from my nephew. So, the beginning of the week was rough. I even had to leave work early one day. However, I’m glad that it was just a simple head cold and not Covid, which still freaks me out. At the moment, I’m about 95% back to normal. We got some heavy rain over the last couple of days, which stirred up my allergies. So, the occasional sniffles show up most mornings, but I feel great.

Although the first day of Fall doesn’t happen until next month, some people are acting as if it’s already here. The fact that kids are going back to school may play a role in it, too. As a happily single and childless woman, I’m sad that kids are back in school. The morning and afternoon traffic has been a headache! However, I know it will take me a couple of weeks to get used to and things will feel normal again.

I’m starting to see pumpkin spice things hit the shelf, which makes me instantly roll my eyes. Sorry, but I can’t consume and enjoy anything pumpkin spice until the temperatures start getting in the low to mid sixties. The high today is in the low 90s, which means I’m no where near ready for my first PSL drink of the season.

My weekends plans are just to relax and fully recoup my life from being out of it for a week. This mostly means me needing to deep clean and sterilize my apartment – spray every thing down. Ugh…and laundry, too!

Please check out the links below, because these were some really good reads I found while nursing my cold.

No Meat for A Week + Fav Meatless Recipe

What I learned by eating no meat for a week. Also, my favorite meatless recipe.

Eating No Meat for a Week | STAINED COUTURE

About a month ago, I came up with the idea to go meatless one week a month. Luckily, I’m not a stranger to being vegetarian and vegan. I tend fast off of meat once a twice a year, but mostly during a corporate fast at church. However, I recently realized that I haven’t fasted off meat in awhile and wanted to bring it back. The only difference is that this time I decided to do it one week a month.

I just finished my first week yesterday and decided to share my take always and if I will continue this self-imposed challenge every month, as planned. Keep reading to find out.

Me saying that I’m so glad that today is Friday and the last work day of the week is an understatement. How has your August 2022 started off?

Well, my month started off with a true Monday of Mondays. So, everything that was supposed to happen at work either didn’t or barely. Luckily, Tuesday was amazing, because everything that didn’t work on Monday did on Tuesday. Wednesday?! Oh that day was a blur, because I had to spend 4.5 hours at the Walmart Auto Center. I had to go get my 2 back tires repaired that I bought from them last summer a month ago. However, when I was heading to work, one of the sensors instantly popped on for one of the recently repaired tires.

I’m still so annoyed by that whole situation, but I’m glad that they were able to fix it…again. I’m also super glad that the tire didn’t go out when I drove to Dallas a couple of weeks ago. That road hazard warranty has been coming in clutch!

As for this weekend, I plan to hit up a couple of estate sales with the bestie tomorrow morning. This trip is going to be my first estate sales and I’m amped. Also, I’m wrapping up my one week of no-meat fast. I can’t remember if I told you about that, but I might give you a small recap and take away from it next week.

In the meantime, I hope you have a great weekend and check out the reads in this week’s Link-End Round-Up.

LUST-HAVE LIST: August 2022 | STAINED COUTURe

I know it’s just the beginning of the month, but I feel like I’ve been telling everyone that I can’t believe that it’s already August. Actually, I feel like I say this every August, because it’s just one of those months that creep up on me. Although it won’t technically be fall until next month, August feels like the warmup for fall. Stores are starting to bring out some of their fall fashions, which I’m ready for.

Currently, here in Memphis, we are still experiencing heat waves. So, I’m not feeling the need or desire to break out the layered looks and boots. That doesn’t mean that I don’t have few online carts starting to fill up with fall-friendly fashion finds. You will actually see a couple of options in this month’s Lust-Have List. Keeping reading to get all the details including why I think I need them ASAP!

Happy Friday! I took most of last week off from the blog, because I wanted to have a true week off from all work. Plus, the time off gave my mind time to recharge, which is just what it needed. It was totally worth it and I can’t wait until I can do it again!

I’ve been very much looking forward to this weekend, because it’s Tax Free Weekend here in Tennessee. That means that you will not be taxed on clothing, shoes, and computers starting today and ending at midnight on Sunday. Of course, this weekend was created to help relieve a little financial stress for parents as they begin their back to school shopping. However, us single and/or childless people enjoy it, too. It would be extra nice if say furniture and groceries were tax-free, as well. We can’t win them all.

So, I’m hoping to find some pieces to help me transition from summer to fall. However, the way these forecasts have been looking, it’s more heavy on the summer. This summer weather isn’t going anywhere any time soon. The struggle continues for my energy and hair, which I plan to wash tonight with a curly hair shampoo.

Other than trying not to break my bank and budget, this is going to be another chill weekend of laying low and staying cool. As usual, please check out this week’s Link-End Round-Up.
