I’ve spent some of my time mapping out the styles and trends I want to partake in this fall. One thing I couldn’t help but notice is the chunky chains on everything from bags to shoes. Although I don’t have many, I love chunky chains, because they add edge with a little chicness. In the words of one of my favorite rappers, Jeezy, I need a vacation! So, I’m counting down the days until Friday, because I will be off until next Thursday. After the last few weeks I’ve had, professionally and personally, I had to cash in some of my vacation days. Since the 4th of July/paid holiday fell on a Tuesday, I decided to take the Monday before and Wednesday after off. So, I might use this time to pack one of my duffel bags and take a quick solo weekend dress getaway.

Well, based on pictures from some of my favorite fashion girls on Instagram, this summer is going to be all about having a chic straw bag. Personally, I can’t recall owning a straw bag that I bought with my own money. I do recall a couple of Easters when my mom accessorized my Easter dress with a white straw purse. The bags were cute, but totally not my decision. Now, that straw bags are having their moment, I guess I need to make a decision or should I say “draw straws” (I crack myself up sometimes) on if I’m going to be carrying around a straw bag this summer.

For the past couple of months, I’ve been on this kick of trying new ways to challenge myself. For the majority of the time, I’ve just been challenging my eating habits and shopping habits. However, after I posted about small everyday bags, I knew I wanted to try it the small everyday bag life. Although it was a challenge to downsize from large tote to tiny crossbody, I figured it out. In the process, it allowed me to really assess what were my everyday needs. Therefore, I was able to narrow down my list of small bag essentials for everyday.

One of the things that I’ve always been mesmerized by is holographic bags. I’m not sure, but my love of holographic bags might stem from my childhood addiction to Gem and the Holograms. I’m talking about the cartoon NOT that horrific real life movie they put out last year, which I’m still salty about.
Anyway, holographic accessories are my favorite way to add some to my adult wardrobe without it being to teen bop or faux futuristic.
