EMPTIES: October 2020

EMPTIES: October 2020 | STAINED COUTURE

I might have to check, but all of the products that I used up last month were amazing. SPOILER ALERT: I would and probably buy them all over again. Keep reading to see why, tho.

As you can see, I didn’t use that many products up last month, but I definitely hated to see them leave. Where do I begin with this amazing line up products? I guess I’ll start the COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid. I bought this earlier this year at the cusps of the lockdown – along with another COSRX product and a rosewater toner. I’d been wanting to try this brand for awhile and felt it was perfect time – it was 50% off.

Of course, what made me buy this was “BHA” and “blackheads”, which I only have on my nose. FYI, BHA is short for beta hydroxy acid, which helps to deep clean pores of dead skin cells and excess oil. Since blackheads are formed by those culprits in your pores, BHA is ideal if you have those issues. Thankfully, I don’t get as many blackheads as I used to, which I attribute to daily gentle exfoliants like BHAs. If you get the occasional blackhead and/or have enlarged pores, I recommend that  you give this product a try.

Now we move on from a BHA product to an AHA product; Farmacy Honeymoon Glow Resurfacing Serum. Actually, this serum has a AHA/BHA blend to help exfoliate, but it doesn’t clean as deep. However, it does help make your skin smoother and softer when used regularly. Initially, you’re supposed to only use it 2-3 x a week and then increase the use over time. Personally, I decided to only use it 2-3 x a week, because I was alternating other products with actives. Using too many actives at once can make your skin react horrible – make sure you keep your skin hydrated.

The only sample I used up last month was the birthday “gift” from Ulta – Lancome Aquagel Sunscreen. They should really be ashamed of themselves, but whatever. Although the container wasn’t much, the sunscreen was amazing. I was hydrating and applied like a dream. Once I finish up my Elta MD tinted sunscreen, I will be buying the full-size version of this sunscreen.

The second time was the charm with Peach & Lily’s Glass Skin serum. Initially, I tried it a couple of years ago, but didn’t see much of a difference. So, I re-gifted it to a teen from church – she loved it. So, I decided to give it another shot and used it as my morning serum. After using it consistently within my skincare routine, I noticed a difference. I’m pretty sure it was due to the ingredients skin loves, such as peptides and hyaluronic acid.

Finally, the only hair product I used up last month was Olaplex No 5 Bond Conditioner. Am I still the only the only one that uses up the conditioner before the shampoo? I know I’m not, but it’s so annoying. Before trying Olaplex, I didn’t think that there was much of a difference in drugstore and salon quality shampoos and conditioner. I was wrong, because my has never been as soft it has since I’ve started primarily using Olaplex products. This No 5 conditioner is formulated to help hydrate and repair damaged hair. When I decide to dye my hair to red with hopes of copper, my stylist recommend I started using these products.

Although I recently gave up my red hair ambitions, I’m glad I started using these products. I totally believe these products helped my hair my break and shed as much as it could’ve and should’ve. So, I plan to pick up another set when I run out the shampoo, which you will hopefully be in the November 2020 empties.
