LUST-HAVE LIST: November 2019 | STAINED COUTURE

Hey, November! How’s your November been going so far? Mine has been hectic, but good. This weekend was amazing, which caused me to not get much done. I haven’t washed my hair in over a week, which I’m going to do as soon as I publish this post. Also, I didn’t get to finish all my laundry or wash my makeup brushes, but I will tackle all these things before I go to bed. Not to mention, the daylight savings has thrown me off. Some people got an extra hour of sleep, but the rest of us got up and hour earlier than usual.

This month, I’m trying to cut back on my spending in order to save for holiday spending and next year. So, I’m still working on not spending too much and being mindful with my spending. Keep reading to get the details on what items I’m lusting after this month.

LUST-HAVE LIST: November 2019

  • Tinted Face Oil Foundation – The weather is getting colder and drier. My skin is usually more normal/combination in the colder months, but not this year. My skin, especially when using mineral foundation powder, has been looking might dry. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this tinted face oil from Kosas from people with dry skin. So, I really want to give this a whirl around my face.
  • Black Block-Heel Booties – My ankles and weak leg muscles are so glad that block heels are still going strong. I realize that I still haven’t gotten a simple, all black pair of ankle boots for fall and winter. I love this pair, because they will go with everything AND they are currently on sale.
  • Convertible Hobo Bag – I ready to venture off from my daily black or brown tote or satchel. I love the cool factor this Botkier bag – from the slate grey color to the interesting design. You can convert it to a shoulder bag, but I love the satchel look.
  • Warm Cotton Fragrance – This past weekend, I picked up the travel version of this scent and I’m in love! It smells like fresh laundry that was washed in Gain – I love the scent of Gain. So, I need the larger bottle.
  • Engravable Lock Pendant – Although I’m trying to collect minimalist gold jewelry, I love the look of this lock pendant from Bauble Bar. It’s the perfect mixture of minimalist jewelry with a little edge. PLUS, you can get it engraved.

Stained Couture’s weekly series, Link-End Round-Up, features interesting reads I read from around the internet this week.

LINK-END ROUND-UP: October 25, 2019 | STAINED COUTURE

Hey, Friday! I’ve missed you, friend. Glad you’re back!

It felt like last week went by so fast, but this week was the complete opposite. At work alone, there we dealt with so many obstacles. A tornado touched down last Sunday night and knocked power out throughout the area. So, we had to move work to my bosses’ house, which delayed my usual daily work routine. Also, the makeup artist for a photo shoot cancelled at the last minute (20 minutes before). So, I had to be promoted from shoot assistant to makeup artist, which is the last thing I thought I thought I would have to do that day. All of this happened on Monday alone.

Yesterday morning, I woke up with feeling slightly queasy, but still went to work. Around lunchtime, I had to leave for the day, because I felt a storm brewing and spent the rest of the day going through it. I’m pretty sure I got food poisoning from some sushi I bought at a local healthy grocery chain. Laytee – 0 Supermarket sushi – 1

So, I’m at home today to rest my body with water, Gatorade, and lounging in bed. It’s raining today and tomorrow, which means it’s going to be a lazy weekend for me. Here’s to a relaxing weekend and enjoy this week’s Link-End Round-Up.

IOTW: Dry Scalp Cream from Head & Shoulders

ITEM OF THE WEEK is a weekly series on Stained Couture that highlights a product I’m currently loving. This week: Dry Scalp Cream from Head & Shoulders

IOTW: Dry Scalp Cream | STAINED COUTURE

For the last couple of years, I’ve been having to deal with dry, flaky scalp. However, depending on the time of the years depends on what causes it. In the summer, it’s usually due to product buildup – curly hair products can be very heavy. During the fall and winter, the dip in temperatures tends to dry my skin and scalp.

I usually try to combat my dry scalp by oiling my scalp, but some oils can be heavy. Recently, I decided to try a new product aimed to moisturize dry and itchy scalp. A few months ago, I heard that Head and Shoulders finally had a line dedicated to natural, textured hair. One of the items in the line is the Royal Oil Daily Moisture Scalp Cream. In the colder months, my scalp gets drier and flakier. So, this product immediately caught my attention.

Head & Shoulders is known for hair care products for dandruff and this line is no different. Formulated with Pyrithione Zinc, this scalp cream is hydrating way to treat dandfruff without having to wash your hair.

What I enjoy about this cream is the texture. Despite it being a cream, it’s very light and melts into my scalp. Also, it feels very soothing and instantly moisturizing. The directions call for you to apply this up to 4 times a day. However, I mainly apply it at night, as part of  my nightly hair routine. Applying it at night has helped me not have to wake to a flaky hairline.

The only downside I have with this scalp cream is when my hair is straighten, it causes it to curl up. I combat that by smoothing my hair down afterwards with a brush and scarf. #BlackGirlMagic

I will say that this cream has made me want to try other products from Head & Shoulders Royal Oils line. You can find this scalp cream and other items from this line at most retailers that carry Head & Shoulders products, including Target and Walgreens.

LINK-END ROUND-UP: October 18, 2019 | STAINED COUTURE

Whaddup, Friday! Can’t lie. This post almost didn’t happen, but I’ve been trying to challenge myself more. Sometimes, we have a tendency to think and act as if we don’t have enough time to get things done. About 10 years ago, I used to be that person. Then,I realized that I had plenty of time to get things done – becoming a student of life, taking better care of myself, and nurturing relationships. However, after my mom passed away 5 years ago, I fell off – HARD!

Eventually, I started to get back on and track and got rid of some toxic habits and people in the process. Although I didn’t get completely back on track, it was consistent and healthy. Now, I’m ready for more – time to be progressive. I signed up for a gym last month, but didn’t go get my pass until this past Monday. Also, I instantly signed up for the orientation for 7AM this morning. I actually went and I signed up for a couple of other classes – I’m a little excited to get this gym life rolling again. It’s been so long since I’ve been in the gym, but I’m ready.

I’m just feeling very optimistic and I’m not sure why this week’s Link-End Round-Up turned into a mini motivational recap. Yet, here we are and so is this week’s Link-End Round-Up. Enjoy!
