So, it only took me three days, but I’ve finally come to terms that it’s really August already. Now, it’s time to get prepared for Fall. I have so many cute things I want to try and wear and products I want to try. I finally figured what hair products my new hair loves and surprisingly it’s the same products I used when I went natural well over 10 years.

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been experimenting with intermittent fasting. FYI, intermittent fasting is not eating for a most of the day and eating only during a certain amount of time. For example, fasting from 7pm – 11am and then eating only from 11am-7pm. I decided to try it once I actually thought that I don’t move enough throughout the day to earn 3 meals a day. Sitting in front of a computer for 7-8 hours a day will not burn breakfast and lunch. I do get up a few times a day to go to the bathroom and refresh my large cup of ice water, but still doesn’t add up.

Like I said, I’ve only been experimenting with this fast. In the morning on my way to work, I stop by Whole Foods hot bar and get some scrambled eggs, a couple slices of bacon, and breakfast potatoes or biscuit with gravy. It sounds like a big breakfast, which it is. However, it’s filling and ties me over throughout the day until I get home from work around 5. When I get home, I eat my second and final meal of the day, which is a only protein and vegetables. No carbs or sugar. Every since I started intermittent fasting, I don’t feel bloated, I feel lighter, and I don’t crave sweets. The latter alone is a reason to keep trying this out. It’s been a very interesting learning session and I think I’m going to keep at for awhile.

This weekend, I want to start cleaning out my closet by starting to transition summer options to fall options. Also, take this time to get rid of things I don’t imagine wearing again by tossing it or donating. Here’s to a great weekend and see ya’ next week.

LUST-HAVE LIST: August 2018

Stained Couture’s monthly series, Lust-Have List, features items I’m wanting this month.

Is it really August already?! Although it feels like July lasted for 2 months, it’s still hard to believe that it’s already August. August tends to be my chill and build month, which I use to clear my mind and plan for the rest of the year. Another reason I love August is because the humidity starts to relieve of us of it’s strain.

Since my birthday is in September, August is also the last month before my life gets hectic. Once September hits, I’m going to be drowning in welcoming a new nephew, holidays, finding a new place to move, and actually moving. Ugh, I’m so not ready for any of that. So, I’m going to try to chill for as much of August as I can.

LUST-HAVE LIST: August 2018

  • Pearlescent 13-month planner, $32, Bando – I recently figured out how to use these planners for daily to-do lists. Even though any daily planner will do, this pearlescent one from Bando is the prettiest one I’ve seen so far.
  • Gorjana Palm Profile Hoops, $65, ShopBop – I’m not quite ready to let go of palm leafs everywhere and on everything. These hoops with a palm leafs in the center are a subtle way to keep the trend going.
  • Denim Midi Skirt w/ Split Front, $48, ASOS – Since spring, I’ve been all about midi skirts and I would love to carry the love into fall with a denim midi skirt. The front slit makes it current and not too structured.
  • Large Crystalline Half-Moon Pouch, $24.50, Madewell – Will I ever meet a Madewell bag or accessory that I don’t love? My latest Madewell obsession is their half moon pouch in retro pink. I’ve featured the clear pouch before, but I think I love this version a little more.
  • Platform Oxfords with Hearts, $49.90, Zara – Every year, Zara offers a similar nude platform oxford that I lust after. Unfortunately, I usually don’t see it until my size is sold out, but I’m not slipping this time. I’m ordering these today.

Happy Friday! Can you believe that it’s almost August?! Well, I can’t and at this rate, September will be here in a blink of an eye. I’m not sure that I’m fully prepared for summer to end. However, I am ready for this summer heat to pack up and go.

Since school is starting in a couple of weeks, it’s Tax Free Weekend here in Tennessee. Although I’m not in school nor have any kids, I might slide through a few stores to stock up on basic tees and notebooks. However, I won’t be spending much, because the limit is a $100 per transaction. Also, I’m saving up to move toward the end of this year. So, I’m about to be real stingy with my funds for the next few months. Thankfully, I have few tips on saving money when I need to and this is definitely a need.

Here’s to a lovely weekend and enjoy the reads in this week’s Link-End Round-Up.
