Fixing My Dry Skin Post Winter

One thing people don’t emphasize enough about getting older is the transformation of your skin. Of course, we know about wrinkles and loss of elasticity of your skin, but what about the skin type? Yes, your skin type can and will change with age and time. I spent most of my life having oily, acne-prone skin, which made my teenage years a dream. However, now that I’ve crossed into my 40s, my skin type is type that I never thought I would have; dry. For the past few weeks, I’ve been waking up to some of the driest skin I’ve ever seen on me. So, I’ve been adding more hydrating products here and there, but now I’m ready to start fixing my dry skin problem.

Today is Friday even though I thought yesterday was Friday. Obviously, it’s been a week for me, but a good one none the less. Hopefully, you week treated you well and kind. I’m going to be a little transparent with you by saying that most of the reads almost got pushed to next week. However, one of things I’ve been trying to work on being deligent and sticking to a routine. So, I decide to go ahead and stick to it and post it today.

I will say that I probably could stick to a routine if this weather would. The weather here in Memphis has been all over the place the past couple of weeks. We’ll get a few days of warm and spring like weather followed by 5 days of cold, rainy days. Unfortunately, we currently dealing with the latter and I’m starting to feel the withdrawl of Vitamin D, which is affecting my mood. However, this is causing me to start doing things I enjoy.

For instance, I had a long lunch on a work day with my best friend at ramen place 5 minutes from me that I’ve never tried. Although neither of us got ramen (ha!), the rice dish we each got was so good. Not only was it good, but it was a lot of food and I ate off of it for 2 days. Still, I enjoyed that hour plus lunch with one of my favorite people while being able to take time away from work.

Despite the weather, spring is almost here and I’m starting to think about spring cleaning. I don’t have much to throw out since I tend to purge a couple of times a year. However, my kitchen stove needs a deep clean and it will be at the top of my list. I’ve been putting if off for too long and I’m planning to look for videos and suggestions on how to get this done. While I’m reading about cleaning grimey stoves this weekend, check out this week’s Link-End Round-Up. Dont’ worry, not a gross read in the bunch. 🙂

Happy Friday and first Friday of March! Hopefully, this new month has started off great for you, even though it’s only the 3rd day.

Although my concept of days and time is getting better; the weather has refused to stay consistent. I’m really over this spring weather one day and winter the next. I’m ready for pedicure toes and flip flops season. However, I know it’s almost here since spring officially starts in less than 3 weeks and ready. I’ve already started pinning spring wardrobe inspirations. Since I’m still trying to stay more frugal, I’ve started to look for transitional spring pieces in my own closet. Unfortunately, it looks like I will still need to do a little shopping sooner than later, which my recent 12% raise will help.

For the last couple of weeks, I was getting back into doing my makeup and not just powder and mascara. Unfortunately, my skin was not letting me great and I had to refocus on my skincare again. My skin has been looking a little dry and congested, which I realized was a sign of dehydration. So, I went ahead and ordered a bottle of my favorite hydrating toners ever by Laniege. I haven’t bought or used it in a few months, because I was trying to use up another toner I bought to try. However, I couldn’t deprive my skin anymore, because it has been looking trashed! Give me a week and my skin will be looking smooth and hydrated in no time.

The weather forcast is looking quite soggy here in Memphis, which means I’ll be inside. Actually, I’ve found myself spending more time at home on the weekends and it’s been nice. Take it, I’m usually just catching up on shows and doing my nails, but it’s been enjoyable. Being able to spend time with yourself and enjoy is a gift that I wish everyone could be able to do. I hope you have a great weekend and enjoy this week’s Link-End Round-Up.
