Essie Expressie Nail Polish Review | STAINED COUTURE

I’m into nails – it’s my thing. I spent most of my life as nail biter. However, in my late 20s, I stopped biting my nails. Out the blue, I realized I hadn’t bitten my nails in days and noticed they were *gasps* longer. So, I never bite my nails again and haven’t looked back. The one thing that prevented me from biting my nails was to always polish my nails. If I was ever stressed or bored, I whipped out a base coat, color, and top coat and paint my nails. Needless to say, I’ve bought and used a lot of nail polished and brands during this life of mine.

Recently, I decided to try a polish from Essie’s new nail polish line, Expressie. Interested in my thoughts? Well, keep reading for my Essie Expressie Nail Polish Review.

I love Essie polishes and love that they are more attainable since most big box retailers carry them. So, while I was in Walgreens looking for a wrist brace, I had no business in the beauty section. However, I can’t help but to wander over there and that’s how I learned about the new Essie Expressie line. The new Expressie collection is their fast drying polished, which makes the name even cuter.

So, as a lover of nail polishes, I felt obliged to pick a shade out to try. There weren’t many colors, but I decided on Busy Beeline. I decided to go with this shade, because it was the lightest shade and I hadn’t seen such a faint yellow polish that didn’t resemble nail fungus when worn. While I was at it, I decided to pick up the matching top coat. You can never not need a fast drying top coat.

When I first applied the polish, I was very impressed with the color and application. The color was very opaque and not very streaky. Actually, some of the nails looked good enough with just one coat. However, I went ahead and applied a second coat to all the nails. The first layer dried pretty quick, as did the second layer. Usually when I do my nails, I let each layer dry 5 minutes. Maybe, I should invest in a nail dryer. Anyway, after waiting a couple of minutes, I applied the topcoat. My nails looked pretty nice, but then I got up from my bed.

Now, my nails dried, but did not harden. So, although my nails didn’t smudge, the did get some dents from things. So, I redid them the next and skipped the Expressie topcoat and used the best topcoat ever – Essie Gel Setter Topcoat. Switching the topcoats helped, but not by much. After a waiting a couple of days, I re-did my nails again. This time I only applied one layer of polish, which was okay since the polish is pretty opaque. There were only 2-3 streaky nails – not that much to complain about.

So, in the end, I didn’t really enjoy this polish. However, this polish can come in handy for quick fixes and rush nails. I don’t think I’m going to try any other shades from the line, but I really love the shade I do have. You can find Essie Expressie Nail Polishes at most Essie retailers and on Amazon.
