LUST-HAVE LIST: April 2018

Stained Couture’s monthly series, Lust-Have List, features items I’m wanting this month.

Lust-Have List - April 2018

Happy April! New month, new wants! As I mentioned on Friday, I’m trying to be more mindful with my spending, which has made me very selective of things I buy. I try to only things that I need and will get my money’s worth. For the month of April, I’m only wanting things that I know I will wear and/or use regularly. Also, nothing in this month’s Lust-Have List is over $70, which makes me smile.

Keeping to get all the details on what items I’m wanting this month.

LUST-HAVE LIST: April 2018

  • Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum – I’ve been really enjoying trying Clinique makeup as of recently, which has made me want to dabble in their skincare. I’m currently on the market for a new serum. This Clinique serum is designed to help refine the appearance of pores, which is always a goal for me.
  • ‘Love More’ Nameplate Necklace – Spring is when I love to layer thin necklaces and this nameplate style one would be a cute addition. Plus, it’s under $20!
  • Benefit Blush Bar Cheek Palette – I really became addicted to blushes during the cold, colorless months and this blush palette has all the shades that work for me. Plus, a perfectly blushed cheek in the right shade of pink is unstoppable.
  • Lolitta Flats in light pink – Last summer, I wanted a pair of feathery shoes, but I couldn’t find a pair that didn’t look too fancy for casual slay. However, this pair from Aldo are as simple as feather shoes can be, but they are also flats. I visualize pairing them with a pair of cropped raw edge denim.
  • Orange Print Button-Front Dress – In the spring, I can’t have too many dresses.  I love casual dresses with a cute print like this orange printed one from Forever 21. This dress is so cute and I can wear all the way to fall.

LINK-END ROUND-UP: March 30, 2018

Stained Couture’s weekly series, Link-End Round-Up, features interesting reads I read from around the internet this week.

LINK-END ROUND-UP March 30, 2018

Wow, this is the last LERU for March 2018. Time sure does fly when you’re too busy to remember what day it is. This week, actually all month, has been hectic. However, it’s finally coming to a halt. Yesterday, after weeks of daily stress and doing overtime on the weekend, I finished the project for work. UGH!! That was me releasing the biggest sigh you can imagine. I got through it!

It’s Easter weekend, which means I’ll be going to church tonight, tomorrow and Sunday morning. Unfortunately, I still haven’t even figured out what I’m wearing. I leaning toward a wearing a floral dress for Easter and there are a few that I have my eye on. However, if I don’t find one, I have a couple of option already in my closet. Honestly, I don’t need to buy a new dress anyway, because I’ve been trying to be more mindful of my spending. Improving my financial skills is always a constant work in progress, but I’m getting better each quarter.

I plan to take a couple of days off next week, because I have some self-care. On Tuesday, I have a hair appointment to start the process of going lighter. I’ve been toying with going lighter with my hair for a couple of years now, but chickened out. However, I’m ready now and just in time for spring and super excited.

Here’s to Good Friday, a blessed weekend, and see ya next week!

ITEM OF THE WEEK: Beyond Perfecting Foundation

A few weeks ago, I an out of the foundation I was using and used it as a good excuse to try a new foundation. During the same Ultra trip when I bought that detoxifying scrub stick, I purchased this Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer. Clinique will always hold a place in my heart, but it was the first “big girl” brand that I used. However, I currently don’t have that many products from Clinique and haven’t used a foundation from them in years.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer

Since I was in the market for a new foundation and Clinique is a brand that my skin loves, I decided to give this foundation a try. After using it practically everyday for the past few weeks, I think it’s definitely worthy of being this week’s Item Of The Week.

When it comes to my ideal foundation formula, I prefer full coverage foundations. The main reason I prefer full-coverage is to help cover my hyperpigmentation on my cheeks and old acne scars. However, I only apply full coverage to that area and blend out the edges. Another good use of high coverage foundations is to use them as a concealer on days when you need little coverage. Needless to say, this foundation is designed to serve both of those purposes.

The formula of this foundation is full coverage, but blendable. Also, or it to be a full coverage foundation, it’s very easy to use and blend. It doesn’t “settle” to fast to allow you blend it out or not. Also, I can’t not mention the applicator, which is a jumbo doe foot applicator. The doe foot helps you apply the foundation without having to use your hands. Also, you can apply the foundation to target area or to conceal.

The only flaw you might find wit this foundation is the lack of many color selections for deeper tones. Other than that, this foundation is worth trying for under $30.

Have you tried Clinique’s Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer? Thoughts?

LINK-END ROUND: March 23, 2018

Stained Couture’s weekly series, Link-End Round-Up, features interesting reads I read from around the internet this week.

Link-End Round-Up March 23, 2018

I’m in such a good mood right now! Maybe it’s because it’s finally spring and the weather is slightly attempting to warm up despite the some areas dealing with snowstorms. Sorry if the latter is your current situation. Since last weekend was super hectic for me and this work week wasn’t much better. So, this weekend, ya’ girl is laying low. My sleep is still a little off, I’ve been  oversleeping more than I would like, and my productivity has been low. So, I got to get this together and will work on this weekend, even if that means just frolicking around my house doing nothing.

There is one thing I would really like to do this weekend is find a new plant. The only plant that I’ve had for the past couple of years died after I didn’t bring it in the house once the weather got cold. So, weather permitting, I’m going drag myself to the garden section of some store with tools and look for new low-maintenance plant. Ideally, I would like to live in a home full of plants, but I don’t have time for that dedication.

As usual, I hope you all have an amazing weekend and try to embrace little moments of happiness. Whenever I’m having a bad moment, I crack open my memory bank to recall a small moment that made me smile. I had to break out a lot of past happy moments these past few weeks. Life is a roller coaster ride, indeed.

In the meantime, enjoy this week’s Link-End Round-Up!

Item of the week Gold Bond Radiance Renewal Cream Oil

Although tomorrow is the official first day of spring, the cold and winter weather has been lingering around. Although the cold hasn’t been that consistent, it still creeps in a couple of times a week. So, I was having a hard time finding a good moisturizer that I was creamy enough for cold days, but not too heavy for warmer days. Thankfully, the skincare gods were looking out for me. Case in point; inserting this new Gold Bond Ultimate Radiance Renewal Cream Oil into my life.

This moisturizer has been rocking my world for weeks and is well deserving of being this week’s Item of the Week! Keep reading to see why.
